What is your role at camp this summer?
I will be a camper this summer!
When was your first year at WEHC, and who or what brought you?
My first year at West End was in 2021. Josh Daigle’s wife was my first grade teacher, and talked to my family and me about going to camp. Josh met us at camp to give us a tour one weekend, and I registered right away!

Do you have a nickname at camp?
Some people call me Moya, but most call me Joey.

How many years have you attended as a camper?
I have been going to WEHC for three years. This summer will be my fourth.
What are your first memories of West End House Camp?
During my first night at camp, Alex Babb had coverage in my cabin and told funny stories to me and my friends until we fell asleep.

What are your favorite camp activities as a camper?
My favorite camp activities are Watermelon on the Big Diamond (long live the Grabuardo’s!!), and Color War.
What is your favorite meal in the mess hall?
It has to be chicken fingers and french fries.

What is your favorite camp memory?
Going 600 Club on White Diablo in 2022. It was my first Color War, and my favorite counselors were also my coaches. 🙂

What is it that keeps you coming back to WEHC?
The community at camp. We are all so close! I know I have made lifelong friends at West End.

Can you share a funny story from or about camp?
Last summer, my waterfront group had tubing, and when it was my turn, I lost my grip when the boat started driving and fell off right away!
What is the best Color War memory you have?
It would probably be scoring the game winning shot in Intermediate CW Water polo last summer.

A life lesson you learned from going to West End House Camp?
I have learned a lot about personal responsibility by going to WEHC. From keeping your own space in the cabin clean and organized, to working with my bunkmates on the overall cabin cleaning, and learning about making good and healthy choices. It has all helped me outside of camp.
Bill Margolin means a lot to so many people, how has he had an influence on your life?
Even though this is my fourth year at camp, I realized quickly how important Bill is to this community. Without Bill, there would be no West End House Camp. He is a big piece of why I love this place so much. Thank you, Bill!

What does it mean to be ‘one of the boys’, and how important is that to you?
Being one of the boys is so important. To me, being one of the boys means that you have people who are always there for you no matter what is going on or where you are.

Can you give an example of a random West End run in or connection you’ve had outside of camp?
I have seen my friend Fred a couple times. And I go to school with some West Enders that I see every day!
