At WEHC, our legendary Super Activities bring the whole camp together for epic competitions that define the summer. From the all-out excitement of Color War and the strategic battles of Desert War to the thrilling challenges of World Cup, these larger-than-life events foster teamwork, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories. Campers of all ages and skill levels shine as they take part in these iconic traditions that make WEHC truly special.
Color War is perhaps the most fun, exciting, and spirited part of the West End House Camp season. It is a 5 plus day competition between evenly matched Blue and White Teams. Campers not only challenge themselves physically but they also compete in a spelling bee and song competition. Campers fortunate enough to be there at a session that includes the last 2 weeks will remember each Color War experience for the rest of their lives!
World Cup is our newest special day plus activity we added in 2010 to take place during the first 2 weeks of the camp season. Campers are members of 1 of 12 countries. They wear their self-designed team shirt and march behind their country’s flags. They compete in 9 games and challenges against the other countries. There are semi-final and final dodge ball games, and the winning country gets to fly their flag in the dining hall for the next 12 months!
Desert War is an exciting one plus day activity that takes place within weeks 3 and 4 of our season. The camp is divided into two teams represented by a colored headband. There are competitions that include Color Rush, Relay Races, Capture the Flag, and a Mini Triathlon for the oldest campers. The winning team gets to paint Desert War Rock its color at the end of the day.
When the sun sets at WEHC, the fun doesn’t stop! Our evening activities offer a mix of excitement, creativity, and tradition that bring campers together in unique ways. From thrilling activities like Gold Rush and Inferno to bonding over bonfires and ghost stories, every night is an opportunity for laughter, teamwork, and making lasting memories. Whether it’s a Counselor Hunt, a Murder Mystery, or a camp-wide competition, WEHC evenings are unforgettable.
