WEST END HOUSE CAMP

Purpose and Design

Our CIT Program blends the best of West End tradition with new structure and mentorship. CITs still learn by doing, working side-by-side with staff, but now with dedicated guidance from a CIT Director who ensures every participant feels supported, challenged, and celebrated.

Brotherhood and Belonging
Many CITs return after years as campers. This is their chance to reconnect with old friends, take on new responsibilities, and enjoy one last summer together as part of the West End brotherhood.

Leadership in Action
Each week includes hands-on leadership workshops focused on teamwork, youth development, and communication. These sessions build practical skills that carry far beyond camp.

Community Service
Through the revived Tender West Ender program, CITs complete meaningful service projects both on-site and off-campus. Service hours can be verified for school or club requirements.

Lifeguard Training
All CITs take part in Red Cross lifeguard instruction, with the opportunity to earn certification at no cost to families.

Schedule and Arrival
CITs arrive two days before campers for a leadership kickoff built specifically for their age group. They do not attend the full staff training week.

Every leader starts as a learner. Our CITs discover how powerful it can be to guide someone younger. To help them try, stumble, and succeed in their own way. Moments like this build patience, empathy, and confidence. They remind our young leaders that real leadership isn’t about being in charge. It’s about helping others grow.

Why It Matters

The CIT Program helps young men discover what it means to lead with confidence, serve with purpose, and stay connected to a community they love. We know how meaningful this transition can be for families, and our team is here to guide every step.

It’s a summer full of friendship, growth, and fun — the best of West End, all in one experience.

The Counselor-in-Training Program is a capstone summer experience for our oldest campers. It bridges the gap between camper and counselor, helping young men grow into confident, capable leaders.
